Reading Melas in Thiruvallur & Sivagangai

In Thiruvallur district, Reading Melas were conducted in 40 villages in which around 3500 children and 1500 adults were participated. In Sivagangai, reading melas are conducted in villages. As soon as resource persons enter the village, a number of adults and children join them, curious to see what they are going to do, since they carry a variety of educational material with them. They tag story posters in a rope and the rope was hanged in a tree in a public place so that children and public can read the posters. People and children gathered around the posters and started reading the cards. These reading melas create awareness and exposure on reading in these villages.
