Think back a few years. Think back to the time when you were a kid, a small child around the age of six. Do you remember that joy you felt when you played with your first toy? Do you remember that special feeling of happiness, of contentment, and of sheer bliss when you opened a present and found your favorite doll or action figure nicely wrapped up inside? We at Eureka Child Foundation do.
Many people today mistake the importance of a toy, and fail to realize the massive impact that it can have on a little child’s life. All little children are natural learners and are constantly absorbing and learning through new experiences in their everyday lives. Therefore the toys they play with perform an integral part in this learning process. For example, a soft toy comforts an otherwise nervous child, building blocks helps build creativity and fine motor skills, dolls help a child understand roles, puzzles help thinking skills. The possibilities are endless.
It is obvious then that toys not only provide entertainment to children, but at the same time aid them in developing essential skills that will help them flourish in their later lives. Toys help the child develop motor skills (through cars), construction skills (through building blocks) as well as thinking skills (through puzzles).
Here at Eureka Child Foundation, we are aware of the importance of a simple toy in a child’s life, and find it intolerable that such a vital aspect of a child’s learning process is being unknowingly ignored in many villages and slums throughout the Indian sub-continent. We believe that every child, no matter what race, background, or caste, must be allowed to benefit from the bounty of pleasure and learning possibilities that a toy brings with it. Thus, Eureka Toy Collection Drive was initiated, with the aim of spreading the “Joy of a Toy” to the lives of under-privileged children across India.
Our Toy Joy project addresses that need. We collect toys (soft toys, toy vehicles, building blocks, dolls, games, puzzles and many more) through toy collection drives in corporates, educational institutions, residential apartments, in malls etc and through individuals and supply them to Govt Balwadis across 10 districts.
With the help of more than 50 corporate & individual donors we have reached out to 500 children in 30 Govt Balwadis.
