Grants and assistance to 361 children studying between Std 6 to College, hailing from extremely poor families, including many from single parent families.

We identify children from the poorest and most marginalized families who need external support to continue their education. The focus is not on identifying the brightest children but rather to identify the poorest children with potential to complete their education with some additional support. Therefore most of the children selected are those who have lost one or both parents or whose families are unable to support them to pursue their education. We provide these children with financial and academic support to ensure that they complete their education till graduation.

In addition to financial support, we also provide children with academic assistance and opportunities for children to discover and nourish their talents.

  • We organise English, Math & Science classes and provide learning materials including activity books and booklets, concept booklets, dictionary etc.
  • We enrol older children into tuitions and distribute question banks to help them prepare for exams.
  • We use art and theatre to conduct workshops every month on a variety of topics (storytelling, story writing, origami, current topics, goal setting, career counselling, personal hygiene, personality development, how to attend interviews etc)
  • We organize field trips (post office, bank, museum, zoo etc). Few children have ever left their local areas!
  • Our block volunteers meet the parents and teachers regularly. This motivates the children to perform well and encourages the parents to keep their children in school.
  • We also link every child with a sponsor who acts as a role model and mentor.

CSS (Cybernet-Slash Support) is one of the key supporters of the program. We are also supported by Sorptomist Foundation and many individuals.

Your contribution of Rs. 5000 can support a child for one full year. This support includes a direct grant, school bag, books, workshops and academic assistance.
