Eureka Silent Walk for Children is an annual event organized by AID India on the occasion of Martyr’s Day (30th Jan) from Labor statue to Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Marina beach. The walk aims at bringing about awareness on the current status of education of children in Tamilnadu.
In our busy lives, it is easy to forget these millions of poor children living in our villages for whom freedom is still a struggle. India’s fight for independence was also a demand for equality in society, where every child has an equal opportunity to learn and grow.
As we face an increasingly unequal and violent world, Gandhiji reminds us, to constantly ask if our actions will benefit the poorest, will educate their children and will bring them freedom from poverty and inequality. Remembering Mahathma and his words, on the 29th of January, we urge you to walk with us to the Gandhi Statue and take a pledge that we will ensure every child in every village gets the best education, achieves his/her full potential and is ready to face the world with confidence and reiterate the fact that Every Child Can.
Let’s live up to Mahatma’s quote,
“Be the change you wish to see in the world”
