Graffiti June 2009
Our planet needs us!
The sweltering heat of Chennai in June was no deterrent to the enthusiasm of the children at St. Francis Xavier School, Alwarpet. They were all set to paint graffiti on their school gates with an aim to spread awareness on burning environmental issues that calls for urgent and self-regulated action by each one of us. A similar effort was put together by the students of Corporation Middle School, Modern School Road, Thousand Lights, Chennai.

The Event to mark the celebration of World Environment Day was co-hosted by AID INDIA and Vestas Wind Technology India Pvt. Ltd. The rallying cry was on simple methods to help mother earth retain her bounty of resources – something we can follow on a day-to-day basis – using hand-towels for drying our face and hands instead of tissue paper, turning the tap off while shaving and brushing teeth, switching off all lights and electrical appliances while leaving the house, car-pooling, setting our default printer to print on both sides of the paper to save trees!
