WAPSI Project
With the major support of GOONJ in the year 2009, AID India’s relief team reached thousands of people with a cause to identify and help professionally skilled people with tool kit, so that these people can restart their business. For this, a project called ‘Wapsi’ was formed by GOONJ under the leadership of Mr. Anshu Gupta.
AID INDIA relief team in Bihar conducted a survey and several meetings in the flood affected villages to identify 2000 skilled persons like Barber, Farmer and Carpenter, etc to support them with tool kits. The project commenced in January.
In first phase, 50 persons were identified and cross verified with the help of local authorities. On 15th February GOONJ distributed tool kits to selected beneficiaries such as Barbers, Carpenters and Construction workers (Raj Mistri, laborers) etc.
In Second phase, 466 beneficiaries were provided with tool kit on 23rd March.

The process of identifying the beneficiaries and cross verifying the selected people were under progress in April. In May and June the work was stopped due to Lok Sabha election code of conduct, though the verification of the selected candidate was on process. The verification of applicants is still on process.
So far 516 beneficiaries were provided with tool kit under ‘Wapsi’ project. These selected beneficiaries are most affected flood victims. |
