September 5, 2008:
Update from Balaji Sampath
I talked to Anshu Gupta from Goonj. He is now at Saharsa. Says people are not recognizing the nature of this disaster. It is not a flood - the river has changed its course and entire villages have been washed away. Goonj has been collecting and supplying clothes. They have collected 100 gunny bags of clothes in Chennai which we will collect tomorrow.
Meenakshi Mission Hospital has also promised to send us 3.5 Lakh Medocodene tablets for the relief efforts tomorrow. |
