IN JANUARY: On 26th Jan a lecture was organized by Swapnil and the NCC team (BITS, Pilani) where in Dharmendra Kumar (Bihar state coordinator) shared Aid- India flood relief experience to get more support from students community to generate more funds for flood victims. Later, the vice chancellor and professors honoured Dharmendra Kumar/Aid-Bihar for his service during flood.

  • In this month 3,600 bed-sheets and 500 blankets were distributed in collaboration with M. M. Oswal Hosiery.
  • Aid volunteers in Bihar conducted meetings and surveys in the flood affected villages with the people to identify skilled persons like barbers, farmers and carpenters. In the aim was to support 2,000 people with tool kits in collaboration with GOONJ (NGO) under the ‘WASPI’ project.
  • Several meetings were conducted with villagers and engineers to identify land to construct home for flood victims. Finally it was decided to construct 20 houses in Mahmud village.
  • The relief team also conducted meetings to give away cycle rickshaw for professionally unskilled persons. Finally 40 people were selected; rickshaws (each costing rs.7000) were ordered.

IN FEBRUARY: Winter kits distribution came to an end and the survey for ‘Wapsi’ was conducted. By February Aid-India & GOONJ distributed tool kits to 50 skilled persons such as barbers, carpenters and builders.

IN MARCH: Our last batch of winter kits was distributed on 23rd March to 250 families in Madhepura district.

  • In ‘Wapsi’ project, the distribution of tool kit for the professionals was stopped temporarily due to Lok Sabha election while the verification process of the selected candidate is on process.

Till now 516 families are benefited under ‘Wapsi’ project (supported by GOONJ)

IN APRIL: We continued the verification process of 2000 beneficiaries under the Wapsi Project.
